Three major steps forward in the development of the Bałtyk 2 & 3 offshore wind farms
We’re proud to announce three key production milestones in the development of the Bałtyk 2 & Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms, located in the Baltic Sea!
At our Hoboken yard, the first transition pieces have been successfully upended, marking a significant step forward in the fabrication phase. The first transition pieces (TP) are almost ready for load-out. A total of 100 TP sets will be produced. The secondary steel for the transition pieces is being supplied by our Polish branch, Smulders Projects Poland, reinforcing the strong local involvement in the Bałtyk 2 & 3 offshore wind farms — two landmark projects in Poland.
In Vlissingen, the topside of one of the two offshore substations has also completed initial production and is now ready for further outfitting. Simultaneously, in Newcastle, the roll-up of the Bałtyk 2 substation jacket was completed.
These achievements highlight the dedication, precision, and collaboration of our teams, all delivered with a strong focus on safety and quality.
On behalf of Equinor and Polenergia, Smulders, in consortium with Sif, is responsible for manufacturing 100 transition pieces for the Bałtyk 2 & 3 projects. Additionally, Smulders is responsible for the design, procurement, and construction of the two complete offshore substations (including both topsides and jackets).
