Baltic Sea, Poland

Smulders is currently fabricating 76 transition pieces (TPs) for the very first wind farm of Poland, called Baltic Power. This wind farm will be built 23 km north off the Polish shoreline.

At our yards in Poland, we are producing the secondary steel for this project. The assembly and outfitting of the TPs will take place at our yard in Newcastle in the United Kingdom. Haizea Bilbao is manufacturing the primary steel in its Bilbao facilities.

The construction of the wind farm is scheduled for 2024–2026. The wind farm will generate 1.2 GW in total, enough to power more than 1.5 million homes annually.

Equinor and Polenergia owned joint venture companies leading the development of the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms, located in the Baltic Sea, have signed a contract with the consortium of Smulders and Sif for the manufacturing of 100 transition pieces for both projects.
