Commissioned by Equinor, Smulders manufactures 54 transition pieces (TPs) for the first part of the Empire Wind Offshore Wind Farm. This wind farm will be built off the coast of New York, south of Long Island.

Production of the 54 TPs is currently ongoing at our yards in Poland and Belgium. At our yard in Hoboken (Belgium), we provide a full outfitting of the TPs.

With the first load out planned in February 2025, Empire Wind is expected to be completed in 2027. The 54 turbines will generate 810 GW, providing sustainable energy to around 500,000 homes.

Equinor and Polenergia owned joint venture companies leading the development of the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms, located in the Baltic Sea, have signed a contract with the consortium of Smulders and Sif for the manufacturing of 100 transition pieces for both projects.
