Commissioned by Equinor, Smulders manufactured 54 transition pieces (TPs) for the first part of the Empire Wind Offshore Wind Farm. This wind farm is being built off the coast of New York, south of Long Island.
We manufactured the 54 transition pieces at our sites in Poland and Belgium. Assembly and full outfitting of the TPs took place our yard in Hoboken, Belgium.
The load-out phase began in early 2025. The offshore foundation installation campaign started in the summer of that year.
Once operational, the 54 wind turbines will generate 810 MW, providing sustainable energy to around 500,000 homes.
