Equinor and Polenergia owned joint venture companies leading the development of the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms, located in the Baltic Sea, have awarded Smulders the contract for the design, procurement and construction of two offshore substations (each consisting of the topside and jacket).
Smulders is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the topsides and the jackets, except for the high voltage and medium voltage systems, which will be provided by Equinor subcontractor.
The works will be carried out at our production facilities in Belgium, with the final assembly of the topsides at our yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
Bałtyk 2&3 are two separate projects with a planned installed capacity of 720 MW each (jointly 1440 MW). The offshore wind farms will be installed in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea and are located approximately 37 km (Bałtyk 2) and 22 km (Bałtyk 3) off the Polish coast.
Smulders, in consortium with Sif, was also awarded the contract for the manufacturing of the 100 transition pieces.
