Tennet
North Sea, the Netherlands
On behalf of TenneT, the joint venture Smulders - EQUANS IS building the offshore substation (consisting of the topside and jacket) for the Hollandse Kust (west Beta) Offshore Wind Farm, located 53 kilometres off the coast of Egmond aan Zee in the Netherlands.
Smulders is responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the substation topside and jacket. All works are performed in-house at our yards in Belgium (Arendonk, Balen and Hoboken) and the Netherlands (Vlissingen). The final assembly of the topside is performed at the EQUANS yard in Hoboken. We completely assembled the jacket at our yard in Vlissingen.
The jacket left our yard on 16 May 2024 and was installed offshore a few days later.
The wind farm, with a total capacity of 760 MW, is scheduled to be operational in 2026.
The joint venture was also responsible for the construction of TenneT's two offshore substations Hollandse Kust (west Alpha) and Hollandse Kust (noord) - both already completed.
