Ørsted awarded Smulders the contract to fabricate and supply secondary steel components for the Hornsea 3 wind farm.

Each set consists of:

Boat landings and ladders to provide safe access to the foundations.
Anode cages to protect the structures against corrosion.
Internal cages consisting of three platforms designed to accommodate the electrical systems for the foundations.

The majority of the work will be completed at our yard in Wallsend, Newcastle, reinforcing our commitment to local expertise and innovation.

Hornsea 3 is located 160 km off the Yorkshire coast and 120 km off the Norfolk coast. It will deliver green power to more than 3 million UK homes.

Commissioned by Equinor, Smulders manufactures 54 transition pieces (TPs) for the first part of the Empire Wind Offshore Wind Farm. This wind farm will be built off the coast of New York, south of Long Island.
