First of two corten steel bridges installed across the Ring in Zaventem

June 27th '22

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the first (of two) brand-new corten steel bridges across the Ring in Zaventem was placed right next to the existing bridge on Hector Henneaulaan.

Over the past few months, we have been preparing the first bridge, consisting of twelve steel sections, for installation on the construction site right next to the Ring. The first major phase of the works is now complete.

The Werkvennootschap chose, because of the ‘less hindrance’ principle, for a phased approach by building 2 bridges. This way, there will be no long-term inconvenience to traffic on the Ring and the flow on Hector Henneaulaan will be guaranteed.

The construction of the bridge was entrusted to the joint venture Besix (foundations and concrete works) - Iemants (steel production and installation).
