Exciting progress continues to be achieved with the assembly of the Triton Knoll two offshore substation platforms (OSP).
The first of two transition piece (TP) bottom sections has now been up-ended at our’ Wallsend yard near Newcastle, ready for the next steps in the production process.
The large, yellow OSP East TP in our latest film is now assembled and has been finished with its distinctive specialist coating. Next steps are to weld the cable deck on before loading it out with a J-tube cage for installation offshore on the monopile foundation. One of the project’s two Offshore Substation Platforms will then be installed on top.
Each TP is around 22m high, 6.5m to 7.1m in diameter, and weighs around 580 tonnes. Each cage is approx. 8.5m high, 9.5 diameter and weighs around 175 tonnes.
Once complete, the two TPs will be transported offshore for installation later in 2020.
