newsflash
Ten months after the start of construction and a few weeks after the successful load-out, the jacket for the Hollandse Kust (west Alpha) substation left Vlissingen last weekend and headed for its final destination some 50 kilometres off the coast of Egmond aan Zee. The substation will be completed in 2024 and TenneT will use this platform to bring 700 megawatts of sustainable wind energy onshore.
The substation topside is currently still under construction in Hoboken. Installation will take place next year.
The jacket was built by Heerema Fabrication Group in Vlissingen on behalf of the joint-venture Smulders and EQUANS, which builds all platforms (jacket and topside) for the Hollandse Kust (north) (west Alpha) and (west Beta) projects.
