Main deck 50Hertz offshore substation topside successfully rotated

August 26th '24

Our team in Hoboken has successfully rotated the massive main deck section, weighing 395 tons and spanning 29.3 x 48.3 meters. This strategic move was all about enhancing ergonomics, safety, and efficiency in welding and assembly operations.

The work continues on this side of the main deck, and after the necessary coating and blasting, it will be rotated once more for transportation to its final assembly location at the Smulders yard in Vlissingen.

A huge shout-out to our colleagues for their exceptional work in making this happen!

The offshore substation is being built by the consortium HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders and Iv on behalf of 50Hertz for the grid connection Ost-6-1 in the Baltic Sea
