Smulders was responsible for the construction of a new bridge over the Twentecanal. The entire bridge was produced in sections at Smulders. These elements were assembled on a prefabrication location next to the harbour in Zutphen, a few kilometers from the final position. Eventually, the bridge was ridden from the quay on a pontoon after which the bridge was navigated into place during the weekend and during closure of the IJssel and the Twentecanal.
