Smulders is one of the 10 nominees of the Belgian Business Awards for the Environment (BBAE), organised by the Federation of Belgian Enterprises. The awards highlight companies that successfully combine innovation and economic viability with environmental protection.
For our sustainability policy, it is important to involve the entire production chain in order to achieve the ambitious target of 70% CO2 reduction by 2030. A clear policy, supported by certified systems, provides a solid backbone and timely adjustment of the plans, which both internal employees (alias ambassadors) and external specialists help to develop.
Raf Iemants, Managing Director Smulders: "At all our sites we have defined clear objectives on sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. It is not only our mission to build wind turbines at sea that provide green energy. We also want to build them as ecologically as possible. Participating in this award helps us to reach the right partners, because this long-term plan requires insight and knowledge of what is happening outside our walls in terms of innovative techniques, plans of local authorities, but also in terms of European decisions regarding CO2 reduction."
The awards will be presented digitally on 14 March.
