Smulders secures EPC contract for Centre Manche 1 and Centre Manche 2 offshore converter platform jackets
Chantiers de l’Atlantique, acting on behalf of RTE, has awarded Smulders, through its subsidiary Iemants, the contract for engineering, procurement and construction of the two jackets of the offshore converter stations for the Centre Manche 1 and Centre Manche 2 offshore wind farms.
In collaboration with Eiffage Métal, Smulders is responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the 2 jackets for the HVDC converter stations.
The works will be performed at the Smulders’ production facilities in Belgium, with final assembly works to be undertaken at the Smulders yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. Each jacket structure will weigh approx. 7,000 tonnes and support an electrical transformer substation of 1.25 GW capacity.
Construction starts in 2026 with installation of the jacket for Centre Manche 1 to take place in 2029 and for Centre Manche 2 in 2030.
The Centre Manche 1 and Centre Manche 2 offshore wind farms will be located off the French coast, in the region of Normandy.
